High School Public Health Pathway Mission Summary

The Public Health Pathway in Mission High School is an honors class that prepares students to pursue health care and public health careers through classroom knowledge, practical experiences, and actual fieldwork in the real world.
Program Objectives

Public Health Pathway: To provide a foundation that seeks the following

Foundation: Public Health Core Understudies both past and existing concerns regarding the core areas of concern in public health.

Develops Critical Thinking/ Problem Solving Ability To be applied in arriving evidence-based decisions to the problem to health concerns.

Equip With Leadership and Advocacy Competence Provide students with leadership skills equipping them to lead even more effectively toward successful initiatives for health equity and wellbeing of communities or populations involved.

Career Exploration Provide learners with the opportunity to access widely a broad range of professional career opportunities in public health, healthcare, and allied sciences.

Prepare Students for Secondary-Level Education Equip students with academic competency skills and knowledge that provide ready-to-enter success in higher education in health sciences program environments.

Experiential learning

It is an experiential learning track whereby a student acquires practical skills or knowledge. The ability to learn via an internship; they might work at a local hospital, clinic, or non-profits or government agencies so that they get real on-site experience; Service-Learning Projects: the student joins community-based projects like health fairs, vaccination drives, or wellness workshops.

Field trips and guest lectures: engaging outside experience for the learner through tours of institutions of public health and lectures for professionals meant to address the problems.

Research: student-created solutions that solve problems by the individual or groups assigned independently in which solutions present to either school or wider community

The Public Health Track will seek to endow the versatile graduate with proper know-how that will enable them meaningfully to serve in this domain of public health. Then, it proceeds with the following outcomes:

Academic Success: Students know what public health means; thus, they will be well qualified to get a terrific handle on college-level course work.

Career Readiness: They will effectively compete at work, read and share information, and communicate appropriately in effective and efficient management of the projects.

Community service :Lifelong commitment through community activities coupled with advocacy for health.

Diversity of Reprezentation: The track inspires a humble student to enter careers on the work related in public health. It encourages more people working together due to diversity in the workforce.

The public health pathway has been extremely successful. It, however brings in some of the following issues with it:

 Funds and Resources: Ensure money available to cover materials, internships, and field trips.
Keeping students interested with the program from beginning till the end.
Upgrade curriculum using trends from public health and technology.
In future, partnerships, simulation technologies along with telehealth sophisticated features, and pathway local colleges with dual-enrollment programs.

This means that indeed, Mission High School Public Health Pathway is part of the excellent works by a transformational program arming the student with more knowledge, skills, and experiences that will better arm him/her to be on the right career path about public health and healthcare careers. Achievement in academics, leadership, and community engagement readies one for not only what one’s future may hold but for a better, positive outcome about public health.
